BWXT Wins $ 21 Billion Environmental Management Contract for DOE’s Savannah River Site

LYNCHBURG, Va .– BWX Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: BWXT) today announced a contract with an estimated cap of approximately $ 21 billion over a 10-year order period with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE ) for environmental management operations at Savannah River Site (SRS) in South Carolina.

The DOE announced the award of the integrated mission completion contract for the Savannah River site to Savannah River Mission Completion, LLC (SRMC), which is a joint venture led by a subsidiary of BWXT and includes subsidiaries of Amentum and Fluorine. The team includes two shortlisted small companies, DBD and Wesworks (a woman-owned company), which respectively provide specialist expertise in modeling and project control.

“This is a strategically important victory for BWXT and demonstrates our ability to tackle some of the nation’s most complex environmental challenges,” said Ken Camplin, president of BWXT’s nuclear services group. “We intend to work with our SRMC teammates, our DOE client, regulators and the community to have a significant impact on waste management at SRS for many years to come. ”

The scope of work of the contract includes the stabilization / disposal of liquid waste and potentially the management and stabilization of nuclear material, among other requirements. SRS is a 310 square mile site that encompasses parts of South Carolina’s Aiken, Barnwell, and Allendale counties and is bordered to the west by the Savannah River and Georgia.
