The army as well as the cadets of the St Bede College Naval Squadron got together and organized various activities on the occasion of World Environment Day. The theme of the event was âKhaki and prakritiâ. The cadets, throughout the year, had preserved the environment and raised awareness about the conservation of natural resources. They pledged to give the cadets a sapling on their birthday. In the activities held, the cadets skillfully used colors to explain how we can play our part in saving the environment. Maanika Sethi won the first prize in the poster design competition, while Chinmay Sharma won the poem writing competition.
Students draw pictures on nature
DAV Secondary Public School, Rehan, Nurpur, celebrated World Environment Day with enthusiasm. Students from pre-primary to upper secondary virtually participated in the activities. The juniors participated in the poetry recitation and made beautiful drawings on nature. At secondary and upper secondary level, students performed plays and gave motivational speeches, emphasizing the importance of the environment. Meanwhile, Spring Dale Convent Senior Secondary School, Paloura, Jawali, also celebrated the day online. Students up to grade XII participated in various activities.
The Center for Environment and Disaster Management at the Himachal Pradesh National Law University in Shimla celebrated World Environment Day by holding a virtual conference on âsustainable developmentâ. The main guest was Prof. Paramjit S Jaswal, Vice Chancellor, SRM University, Delhi-NCR, Sonepat, Haryana. The virtual session was chaired by Prof. Nishtha Jaswal, Vice-Chancellor, HPNLU. In his speech, Professor Jaswal explained the global impact of Covid-19. Professor Jaswal underlined the relationship between development and the principles of sustainability. The guest of honor also recalled the foundations of sustainable development such as âthe doctrine of intergenerational equityâ and âenvironmental impact assessmentâ.
